If the headphones have sound in only one ear or differing sound levels in each ear or the sound in general is not what you expected then it needs to be determined where the issue lies - with the headphones or with the audio source.

The first thing to do is ensure that you have the audio plug of the headphones connected securely into the audio device. A properly connected cable should not wiggle. If the plug wiggles that could indicate a loose connection. NOTE: This could be a result of the cable not being plugged all the way in or it could be a faulty input or sometimes if the device you are connecting to has a case on it the case will prevent the cable plugging in correctly.

HD-25's were designed with efficiency in mind. Attention to detail in craftsmanship is evident as well - from tiny bolts to how smooth the pads can be adjusted in three planes. The sound is mind-blowing*, no coloration and I didn't notice any holes in frequency spectrum either. *Actually the sound is so clear that on higher volumes certain sounds with fast attack tend to have a slightly uncomfortable feeling of ticking inside the brain - tight rimshots in particular. My favorite headphones nevertheless, probably wouldn't exchange for any others .

"Open" and "closed-back" refer to the ear cups on a pair of headphones. Most models have closed backs, which means the ear cup is totally closed on the outside. On an open-back model, there is a grille on the outside. Open-back models provide good sound detail and depth because they don't permit sound waves to bounce off the back of the ear cup and move back towards the ear.

When referring to the "soundstage" of a pair of headphones, just imagine the feeling of hearing a piece of music's instruments arranged around you -- as if you're sitting in the middle of a band. For gaming, in particular, a good soundstage can help players identify the direction a sound is coming from -- like gunfire, a grenade, or a character's speech. Some headphones specialize in soundstage. Ear cups with open backs have good soundstage because they allow for perceived spacing between instruments and depth sound. 041b061a72
